| Experience: | First of all, I don't charge 80 dollars an hour. It was posted that way to set my profile apart from the dozens and dozens of other tutors who post on this forum. My current rate for tutoring is 40 dollars an hour.
I am a junior studying chemical engineering and management at MIT. I have had a number of tutoring positions in my high school/undergraduate experience totaling to 1000+ hours of tutoring experience. Most of my experience has been focused on tutoring math subject areas and the SAT's. I am very very well qualified to tutor in these areas.
I achieved a 1540 on my SAT I (note: this was before they changed it to three sections), and I have completed any mathematical coursework that a high schooler may encounter. What I like to stress the most to parents is not that I am a mathematical genius, but that I have a knack for being able to explain concepts well. If you take any kid from MIT, he/she will be an expert on high school level math. The key quality in a good tutor is his/her ability to explain concepts. Using my recent experience in learning the subject material and my teaching intuition, I can make an impact on your child's learning. |
| Hobbies: | Hi. I was born in West Virginia, but I've lived in six states and two countries. I enjoy playing tennis, chess, and the piano. After graduating MIT, I plan to start my own company. I love throwing ideas around, and apply my creativeness to everything |
