Gender:Male
Preferred Subjects:Algebra, Calculus, General Math, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Earth Science, General Science, and Physics
Experience:As a PhD student at MIT, I performed as assistant in instruction for a graduate course, where I held weekly tutorial sessions, and worked with MIT professors preparing and grading homework and midterms. Because of great student reviews, I was then chosen to be an instructor in a prestigious MIT summer program bringing together experts in a variety of engineering and medical fields to discuss the latest experimental developments in bioengineering. As such, I demonstrated laboratory techniques and prepared detailed protocols to perform experiments with cells and proteins. During the weekends of Spring 2006, I worked as an instructor in the Saturday Enrichment Engineering Development program (SEED) at MIT, teaching high school students Math topics and basic engineering concepts. As part of the course, I guided my students in the completion of a remote-controlled vehicle made from household accessories. This was one of the most fulfilling experiences I have ever had, as I felt I was truly embedding the scientific and engineering curiosity in my students. This is the reason I have decided to become a tutor. I would like my work to have a direct impact in someone’s life by helping succeed in challenging situations. I am a committed person and I like to motivate young students to never give up. My philosophy is that no problem is really impossible if you break it into small pieces and tackle one at a time.

I also have 3 years of professional engineering experience which I acquired before attending graduate school. During my engineering training, I have mastered Physics and Math (Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus and Differential Equations). I am also a fluent Spanish speaker.
Hobbies:In my spare time, I like to be in the outdoors: camping, hiking, mountain biking and snowboarding. I am also a sports fan; I like baseball, softball, basketball, tennis and running. I always had the dream of flying, and now I am completing flight lessons
